Half the reason I'm dragging my ass off of hiatus (though no promises) is that in one week, precisely one week, it will be exactly four years since I started Between Places. NUTS.
I admit I'm a little tiny bit behind on comic of the weeks... okay, no, I'm horribly behind. I haven't updated since April, but all you guys need to know on your end is that there was a series of tragedies and I'm awful at mustering creative energy when even now I get struck with the urge to curl up and cry. So let's have a few of these, shall we.
I left off at Cetiya
which is of course my favorite manga styled manga on the internet. It's cyberpunk, made by an awesome creator, and questions how memories define people. And well, magic and things.
Dream*scar is a comic I've been following since chapter one, when I ran into it and its seriously creepy first chapter. It's manga-styled, but in full color, and approachs supernatural beings in the modern world, and the consequences of power that gets out of your hands. I can't believe I haven't raved about it before; DS is beautiful, absolutely beautiful, and a compelling read with characters that stick with you.
Keys is a classic fantasy comic about the clash between gods and men. Unlike the last two Comic of the Weeks, it has a very traditional fantasy feel about it, complete with spiralling epic history prologue, a sense of grand vastness. It brings back memories of what got me hooked on the fantasy genre to begin with. Nice full color art, and definitely worth giving a read if you enjoy good ol' hard fantasy comics.
